A very good little family film, a magical fantasy without the usual plummet posh kids (love Narnia but who talks like that), and Michael Caine does a good job voicing the Sand fairy. Good modern twist on an old story, if you liked the one that came out about 15 years ago with Eddie Izzard, you'll enjoy this. We had such an amazing time! The film is all about a group of children who travel with their family to Cornwall and stumble upon a magical creature on the beach who has the ability to grant their wishes ✨ There's lots of laughs, some real tear jerker moments, a story line that keeps you on the edge of your seat for the duration and touches on some real issues that children face in modern families. It has all the warmth of a Jacqueline Wilson novel and all the comedy you need to keep the kiddies entertained for the duration!! Grace is 4, and we've held off from taking her to the cinema until we knew she would have the concentration to enjoy a movie from start to finish. She LOVED this one!!! Four Kids and It is a lighthearted, inoffensive film hurriedly released via Sky Cinema this Easter to appeal to the housebound child in us all. My Thursday Takeover guest reviewer @noleenwj elaborates... The film is based on Jacqueline Wilson’s book which re-imagined and catapulted the original 1902 story to the present day. Two sets of grumpy children provide the backdrop to their parents burgeoning romance at a seaside holiday but all is not well until they meet the mythical Psammead creature on the beach. He reluctantly grants them a daily wish, which provides the necessary vignettes to flesh out the story. As the Psammead, Michael Caine’s voice is too distinctive and less compelling than Eddie Izzard’s in the 2005 film, but Russell Brand engages as the child-hating country landowner Tristan, who’s intent on adding the creature to his trophy collection.
